Below are some devotional questions that go with the message for this Sunday.  You are encouraged to read them before, during, or after the message.  They could be for personal reflection, but could also be used for discussion in groups.

QUESTIONS for Romans 8:12-17

  • Does your family have any terms of endearment that are used in certain relationships?  If so, how did they come into use?
  • Saying “Abba! Father!” (Romans 8:15) is like us saying, “Daddy!”  With such a term of endearment being used, what does that say about God the Father’s desire for His relationship with you?
  • Read Romans 8:16.  What does the Holy Spirit do for you into your life?  Why is it necessary for the Spirit to do that routinely? How has the Spirit done that in your life?
  • What is it that you would like to have a sincere child-to-Father conversation about with God?  Is anything holding you back?  If so, why is that?

Blessing Concordia Students and Staff

As Concordia aims to provide a safe and caring environment for their 1,200+ students, their partners in ministry and their community, they anticipate facemasks will be part of their everyday lives on campus. They are asking their alumni, parents, friends, congregations and others to help them ensure they have enough masks for everyone on campus, as well as visiting guests. Their goal is to have 2,000 masks donated, which will go a long way to create a caring environment for our campus community.  At this time, they have received over 500 masks. If you’d like to sew facemasks to donate to campus, you can use a pattern that works for you or you can follow the Center for Disease Control mask guidelines: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/how-to-make-cloth-face-covering.html Donated masks can be dropped off at the church office by July 27 and we will deliver them to Concordia’s Student Life Office.
