QUESTIONS for Matthew 14:31

  • In Matthew 14:31, Jesus says to Peter, “You of little faith. Why did you doubt?” With what tone of voice did Jesus say these words?
  • Do we need to hear them?  When?  Why?
  • What is Jesus’ desired result when Peter and we hear these words?

Worship Entrance Changes

Due to Columbia Avenue being under construction and after reviewing our sanitizing process, the west entrance will now be open and usable for worship services on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  The east entrance will also be open for services; however, there will be no parking available on Columbia Avenue at least through Tuesday, August 11.

Office Hours Beginning August 13

Beginning August 13, the church office will be staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00am-1:30pm.  If you are needing to speak with someone at the church office, please call the church office to make an appointment.

Use of Masks when on Campus

In order to bless one another when you come to the church office, you will enter through the west entrance, sign in in the lobby, and then put on a face covering as you enter into the building.  This is to be done by all who come into the church office and any other public areas of the facility as we work to bless our staff and students.

St. John Lutheran School Begins Our 136th Year

We give thanks to God for blessing us with the start of our 136th year of Christian education on Thursday, August 13.  Though the times have changed in regards to issues created by the pandemic, the mission of our school and Child Development Center has not changed.  Each day, our faculty and staff welcome students to a day wherein the good news of Jesus Christ is integrated into the school day in all that we say and do.  Please keep the faculty, staff, students, and families in your prayers as we begin this new year.

Concordia University Begins New Academic Year

We give thanks to God for the start of new academic year with our partner in ministry, Concordia University.  The faculty and staff have worked diligently to bless the Concordia community with the prudent care that is needed in regards to the issues of the pandemic.

Concordia University Students in Worship with Us

Due to the concerns with the pandemic, the Student Life Office of Concordia has worked with the Pastoral Care Team of St. John to develop a plan for students worshiping with St. John.  For the first month of the academic year, the students who worship with us at St. John are asked to join us for worship via our livestream service in a designated space on Concordia’s campus.  The Student Life Office is working to arrange those spaces and to notify the students.  This one month period will allow Concordia administration and our Pastoral Care Team to monitor the situation and prepare for the next steps of our life together.

Orphan Grain Train School Kit Collection: August 3 – August 14, west entrance

The Human Care Board is making school kits for the Orphan Grain Train (OGT) and invites St. John members to donate any of the following school supplies. Please place your donation in the yellow school bus marked Orphan Grain Train located in the west entrance (M-F, 8am-4pm, Aug. 3 – Aug. 14).  Each kit contains: ●2-3 spiral notebooks (any size); ●2 or more pencils; ●2 or more black or blue pens; ●pencil sharpener; ●package of construction paper; ●crayons (24 count or smaller); ●wooden ruler; ●2 glue sticks; ●blunt scissors; ●washable markers; ●new or gently used drawstring bag or backpack (drawstring bags can be shipped more efficiently than backpacks since they don’t take up as much space). Single or multiple donations of any of the above items would be very much appreciated.  The Human Care Board will sort all the donated items into kits.  These kits will be distributed by the OGT to children in need.  Thank you!

Produce tables for sharing your abundance are located outside of the west entrance M-F, 8am-4pm.
