Statement from the Black Clergy Caucus of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod

In response to the murder of George Floyd in Minnesota, we share with you this statement from the Black Clergy Caucus of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.  We pray that the words of Rev. Warren Lattimore, Jr. of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Orleans, LA and also President of the Black Clergy Caucus of the Lutheran Church, will move each member of St. John to consider our mistreatment of other humans and our own prejudices.  In doing so, may we be moved to repentance and hear again God’s message of grace and forgiveness.  Finally, may we read more, learn more, and listen more so that together we would speak more boldly against injustices done to others.  And we pray that the Lord would move us to love our neighbor more for Christ has commanded us to do that as the redeemed Children of God.
