CDC PHILOSOPHY & PURPOSE
So that our children may, “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” II Peter 3:18
Responding to the needs of parents and children is an integral part of the mission and ministry of the congregation. In meeting these needs, programs are designed to involve congregational members, the community, the family and the child.
As we seek to obey our Lord’s command to, “make disciples of all people,” (Matthew 28:19), education and childcare are significant opportunities we have for congregational ministry into the community.
Education and childcare are a supplement to enhance the nurture already present in the home. The parent is the primary teacher. Programs are developed to help support and encourage the parents in their role.
The young child is a gift from God, (Psalm 127:3), and learns best about God’s world through experimentation and exploration. Therefore the early childhood program plans developmentally appropriate activities and values play as an avenue for learning. While learning is encouraged it should not be hurried.
Each child is a unique and special child of God and we encourage his/her self-esteem and individuality whereby the child may find identity, purpose and power for his/her life in Christ by living in grace and in the knowledge of Him as Lord and Savior.
Education and childcare provides a warm and loving Christ-centered environment where every child can develop to his/her fullest potential aesthetically, emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially and spiritually.
St. John Child Development Center is an integral part of the ministry of St. John Lutheran Church. The purpose of St. John Child Development Center, (SJCDC), is to assist St. John Lutheran Church in carrying out its mission by providing a Christian environment whereby children may find identity, purpose, and power for their life in Christ by living in grace and in the knowledge of him as their Lord and Savior.
St. John Child Development Center staff care for the whole child by providing developmentally appropriate experiences for each child to grow aesthetically, emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially and spiritually.
St. John Child Development Center cooperates with the Special Needs Programs provided by the Public School System in our area. They can provide developmentally appropriate programs which meet the needs of children and their families which cannot be met in our setting.
It is our goal to reach out to all families and their children in Christian love, creating an environment where children feel secure, develop an on-going sense of self-worth and confidently meet new challenges and learning experiences.
