CDC OUTDOOR CLASSROOM
The nature themed playground is an important part of the learning and development of the CDC students. Studies show that children are more engaged and inspired to learn when they are exposed to natural surroundings. At St. John, we feel that childhood should be full of running, jumping, climbing, laughing, and enjoying the world God has given us. Children dress appropriately for a variety of types of weather. The curiosity and learning of the students is enhanced by the experiences they have by using all their senses to explore God’s creation.
CDC Playground History--Many parts of the CDC playground are icons from years gone by. The hill, tunnel and sandbox are made from giant concrete planters that used to be on Concordia University’s campus. Many of the logs are from the property of Dorris and Reinhold Marxhausen, which was transformed into Concordia’s Center for Liturgical Arts.
