We are excited to have three familiar faces on board to write for the @StJLuthYouth blog each month! Allow me to introduce you to these awesome bloggers:
KRISTI – Writing about Life & Faith in Bolivia
Hi! I’m Kristi Einspahr. I’m a junior in high school and right now I am studying abroad as an exchange student for the 2013-2014 year. I am living in Sucre, Bolivia (in South America for those of you who aren’t sure where Bolivia is :)) and it has already been a life changing experience during the 3 months that I’ve been here. In the United States, I live with my mom and dad while my older brother and sister are off at college. I’ve been a member of St. John’s congregation for as long as I can remember. I met some of my best friends in the 3 year old Sunday school and I attended school at St. John all the way from kindergarten with sweet Mrs. Fiala to eighth grade with the legendary and unforgettable Mrs. Obermueller. During high school, I started Godparents with several other friends from my class, so many actually, that we were split into three groups. I will continue to participate in Godparents when I return to the United States as it is a great place to grow in my faith with God and create relationships with my leaders and peers. I have a blog to post all my Bolivia experiences at kebolivia.blogspot.com, but I’m looking forward to writing a monthly report to share with all of you about how I am growing spiritually while I am living here!
ZACH – Writing about College Life
Hey guys! I’m Zach Bruick, a freshman at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana and a 2013 graduate of Seward High School. I am majoring in meteorology with a minor in math (and hopefully a few other things by the time I graduate). I am an alum of the St John Godparent program as I was a part of the Pesters’ group. I was active in the music program as well at St John.
Here at Valparaiso University, I am part of the Lutheran Leader Intern Program for which I am interning as the middle school for Gloria Dei Mission, a Lutheran Hispanic mission in Valpo. I am also active in Valpo’s Social Action Leadership Team (SALT) which works to bring about social justice around the world through various means. In addition, I participate in Valpo’s chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team (VUSIT). It’s a busy life at college, but it has been enjoyable and rewarding and I cannot wait to see all that God has in store for me over these next four years here in Indiana.
KYLE – Writing Music Reviews
My name is Kyle Thorburn. I graduated from Seward High School last may in 2013. I currently attend college at the University of Nebraska Omaha, studying broadcast journalism. I intend to become a sports broadcaster once done with college. My interests include watching sports such as hockey, and football. I also enjoy reading and hanging out with my friends family and girlfriend. My biggest hobby is music. I am constantly listening to music.
I will be doing a monthly Christian music blog. I will review CDs, concerts, and many other things. I love music and look forward to writing about Christian music for all of you!
