Hopefully you are aware that last year our St. John and Seward Middle School students, as well as our high school students were able to attend a presentation called “Rachel’s Challenge.” Rachel Joy Scott was the first student killed in the Columbine High School Massacre. In time, her friends and family began to share her story not only to inform about that day but primarily to share what brought Rachel JOY in her life and how she sought to instill such in others. The presentation left the students with five challenges ranging from treating others the way you wish to be treated, to seeking positive influences, to practicing forgiveness for self and others. Through these means, Rachel insisted they would create a “chain reaction” that could not help but have a positive influence on those around you (as she did with those around her). For more information, or to get a peek at what the youth saw today, please visit Rachel’s Challenge. There’s a 9 minute video to watch, as well as resources for you as a parent if your child is being bullied or even if there’s the serious threat of suicide. God’s strength to you as you lead and care for your children each day!
