Paul SoulekTeacher Name: Paul Soulek

Class: 7th and 8th Singers and Ringers & Director of Parish and School Music

Favorite Bible Verse: “…But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26-28

I love St. John Lutheran school because…we get to share the forgiveness
and hope that Christ alone brings. Because of the cross and empty tomb we are
equipped to educate the whole child and give witness to Godʼs grace and mercy
in all aspects of our classes and lives. The faculty and staff are an awesome
group of dedicated servants, and I enjoy our team very much.

Significant Life Experiences that have led you to St. John…
I served as a choir director and assistant organist at St. John throughout my
years at Concordia University across the street. I never dreamed I would move
back to Seward just after college to become the Director of Music at St. John.
What a blessing to serve together with an amazing collaborative of staff and
families!

A few of my favorite things…
In general: Home repair and DIYʼing, cooking world famous foods, and spending
time enjoying Godʼs creation At St. John: Seeing our students learn to sing the musical treasures of the faith, both old and new.

At St. John I assist with…
As “Cantor Soulek” I am responsible for “leading the people in song,” (the
meaning of the word cantor). I am grateful for Mrs. Wernerʼs support and
assistance in coordinating the many musical activities at St. John, which involves
over 250 musicians ranging from kindergarteners to senior citizens. Whether itʼs
selecting music for use in worship, playing for the school “name that tune
contest”, or assisting with Concordia Music Events, I truly have abundant
opportunities to proclaim and practice the love of Christ!
