We are celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week this week! We are celebrating by doing things for our neighbors. We made a poster for the police department with Mrs. Sommerer’s class and it was delilvered to them. We walked across the street to the Nebraska District LCMS offices and sang to pastors and workers that were there. We celebrated Ash Wednesday with chapel by Mrs. Bimler and each received a sticker cross put on the hand or the forehead.
And each day we have been wearing different colors that represent special things. Monday:Red-to remind us that Jesus’s shed His blood for the forgiveness of our sins. Tuesday:Blue-the color of the sky, which reminds us of heaven and eternal life. Ash Wednesday:Black-the color of sin. During Lent we are reminded of the price Christ paid on the cross to pay for our sins. Thursday:Rainbow-God loves all of us, every shape, size and color! Friday:Green-the color of growth and life in Christ!
Our assessment notes going home this week cover the area of Health and Physical Development. We will be reading some VeggieTales books this week and let those zany vegetables tell us about vegetable colors in Junior’s Colors by Phil Vischer. We will even get to talk about foods that are good for our bodies!
Thank you parents for sending in the letters to your child. What a wonderful gift this has been for our classroom. I read each one aloud, either at circle time, or at lunch time. Their faces just beam with pleasure at hearing your words of praise and love for them. It is wonderful for all the children to hear how much each one is loved by their parents too. Now when a child is feeling sad, we find their letter from you and read it. It brings a smile to their face, knowing you are thinking about them during your work day.
Blessings on your day,
Mrs. Hendrickson
