Lauren Sommerer
Mrs. Sommerer started teaching preschool way back in 1995. Prior to that she taught two years of second grade, and had very little experience with four-year-olds. When she got this job, she thought, “How hard could it be? We’ll just go outside all the time.”
It rained the first two weeks. Solid.
After that trial by fire, she discovered that she absolutely loves being with preschoolers. The way that they are so excited to learn about everything is so contagious!
In her free time, Lauren loves being at home and puttering around on the computer. She has the hidden talent of being able to write in cursive – backwards. She likes to eat homemade bread (and will talk about it endlessly if you let her), watch Food Network, and enjoys romantic comedies.
Lauren loves tools, so she has appreciated the staff’s willingness to let her put up shelves/ paint / build whatever piece of ‘furniture’ she thinks would be helpful in the center.
